Wouldn’t it be amazing to take a helicopter ride over your home town?  For me, that would mean flying above the Monterey Bay and the Santa Cruz Mountains.  I would be able to see the beautiful coast line and then go right on over the spectacular redwood forests.  Perhaps the pilot would be able to tell us some stories about the Ohlone or Zayante Indians who settled in this area centuries ago or the history of the vast properties that belonged to Henry Cowell and his family.  Finally we could hover over places like the historic Boardwalk in Santa Cruz, Roaring Camp, Capitola, Big Basin State Park, and my own neighborhood in Mount Hermon.   Seeing the “big picture” from a seat in the plane would no doubt change the way any of us would view our own community and many places that are so familiar.  At the end of your ride, you would undoubtedly have a much greater appreciation and understanding of the place that you call home.

This Bible study will give you an opportunity to take a “helicopter ride” over the New Testament.  Lesson by lesson you will read one book of the New Testament, discovering how it fits into the big picture of the Bible and what it uniquely contributes to your understanding of God’s Word.  Wouldn’t it be great to know that when you have finished these 27 lessons, you will have read the entire New Testament and will know what the basic information is in each of the books?

Frameworks, written by Eric Larson, will provide background information so that you will be able to grasp what the New Testament is all about from start to finish.  Eric also has written extremely helpful and fresh insights for each book so that you can easily comprehend the context and the purpose of it.  Both his wonderful visual and meaningful verbal illustrations will help you to understand each book and be able to remember its important and unique features.  As you use Frameworks as your guide book, your journey will have a depth and perspective that you will greatly appreciate.

The study guides, written by Marilyn Miller, will provide a specific space and place for you to put in writing your own insights, questions, and response.  This is an extremely important part of any Bible study.  As the Holy Spirit opens up your mind and heart to the truths that are in God’s love letter to you, it is good to jot them down so that you can ponder them and process the application that is coming directly to you from His Word.  If you are doing this study with a small group, this will also enable you to remember and to share some of your thoughts and concerns with others.  Together you will be surprised at the way that God will use this to enrich your journey of faith.

May God bless you immensely as you spend time with Him in His Word!
