What do YOU think? Is “faith” something you can measure or not? Do some people have a pound of faith while others barely have only an ounce? Perhaps God even decided how much He would give one person over another. Or is faith more like muscles? Every one has them, but some people choose to exercise them so that they develop and grow stronger. Perhaps faith is more dependent on personality or life’s experiences. What Do you think?
Perhaps faith is something that you either have or you do not have. When you step on an aiirplane, you have a confident belief that you will arrive safely at your destination assuming there are no unfortunate and unpredictable circumstances. If you do not have that confidence, you will choose other means of transportation or stay at home. What you believe always determines how you will behave.
There is an extremely interesting verse about faith found in Hebrews11: 6. “Without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him.” The whole chapter is filled with illustrations of men and women who knew what it was to believe that God was very real and that He was personally involved in directng their steps. These people “by an act of faith” (The Message) lived out what they believed to be true about God and about life.
As you get to know these “heroes”, not because they were perfect or even extraordinary, but because they were ordinary men and women who made the choice to trust God and His promises to them even when they stood alone, may your own faith increase dramatically.
