What do you think the word “wisdom” means? How would you describe a “wise person”? In your circle of family, friends and acquaintances, who would you consider to be “wise”? Why? How does one become wise or gain wisdom?

There is one book in the Bible that concentrates totally on helping the reader understand how to live skillfully and wisely in this world. It is a book that is unlike any of the other books in its style and content. While the Psalms focus on your emotional response to God and Ecclesiastes looks at life through an intellectual lens, this book concentrates on short, concise statements of truth. The reader has the choice, then, to believe the truth presented and to respond through the will in agreement or disagreement.

There’s truth about friendship, money matters, speech, emotions, age, laziness, humility, life and death, and much more. Billy Graham has had the habit for many years of reading one chapter of Proverbs each day of every month in order to be reminded continually of God’s guidelines for living successfully and well. I need this kind of help, too, don’t you?

I pray that as you embark on this study you will come to understand both with your mind and your heart that it is “the Lord Who gives wisdom and from His mouth come knowledge and understanding”. Proverbs 2: 6

Sincerely, Marilyn Miller
